One afternoon, Dr. Phillip Thompsen, the station’s faculty advisor, caught Sylla clocking more studio hours than scheduled. “Aren’t you supposed to be elsewhere?” Thompsen asked. Sylla’s quiet admission prompted a response that stuck: “So you’re unofficial?” That offhand remark planted the seed for Unofficial Entertainment, a banner born in 1998 and made official in 2025.
