The Unofficial Story

As an undergrad at West Chester University, Coli B. Sylla found himself drawn to WCUR 91.7FM, where music, culture, and conversation lived beyond the classroom. Hours turned into days as Sylla immersed himself—spinning records, producing mixtapes, and crafting narratives on-air. One afternoon, Dr. Phillip Thompsen, the station’s faculty advisor, caught Sylla clocking more studio hours than scheduled. “Aren’t you supposed to be elsewhere?” Thompsen asked. Sylla’s quiet admission prompted a response that stuck: “So you’re unofficial?” That offhand remark planted the seed for Unofficial Entertainment, a banner born in 1998 and made official in 2025. Today, Unofficial Entertainment is committed to developing bold, socially relevant dramas that challenge, provoke, and engage—anchored in the belief that storytelling should always serve a deeper purpose.
